Transfer wire warn error

Users have reported seeing the Transfer Wire Warn error message on their generator display, and the generator will not transfer power after a utility loss.

Environment

This error will occur on home standby generators with Evolution 1.0 and 2.0 controllers. The system will have an automatic transfer switch.

Causes

This is typically caused by incorrect or damaged wiring of the 194 and 23 wires.

Note: Troubleshooting this issue requires inspecting the wiring and some electrical knowledge. If a generator owner is not comfortable with this, it is strongly recommended that they reach out to a local certified service dealer. See the How Can I Find a Generac Service Dealer in My Area? article for more information.

Troubleshooting

Inspect the transfer circuit that includes wires 194 and 23. Make sure the end of the wires have been properly stripped and are landed on the correct locations in both the ATS and the generator switch. See: What Is the Purpose of the Generac Home Standby Generator Control Wires?
