Propane tank minimum size

Propane tanks that supply fuel to a Generac home standby generator must be at least 250 gallons. However, every home is different, and so is every installation and set-up. A free in-home assessment will help determine the best setup tailored to a specific home or site. In-Home Assessments are available at no charge, with no obligation to proceed with an installation.

Protector Series tanks

The Protector Series diesel units are designed to utilize the base tank that is integrated into the unit (32 gallons). There are no accommodations for adding an auxiliary tank for diesel. As the manufacturer we cannot recommend connecting the unit to a separate tank for safety and performance reasons. Please note that any modification to the unit will void the factory warranty.

Protector series units will still require an LP tank if using LP as a fuel source (up to 60 kW is field convertible, above that will need to be ordered as LP or NG from the factory). The minimum size for an LP tank is 250 gallons.
