Product overview - Next Generation Automatic Transfer Switch

The Next Generation Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) lineup is designed to complement Generac’s latest Home Standby Generators and Energy Management platform. These updated residential automatic transfer switches focus on enhanced reliability, simplified installation, and a modernized appearance while introducing integrated surge protection options.

Model variants

The first phase of the new lineup includes 9 total models covering Service Entrance (SE), Non-Service Entrance (NSE) and the 200A transfer switch that is bundled with 14-28kW air-cooled Generac Standby Generators.

Main new features

Below is a summary of key improvements introduced with the Next Generation Residential ATS.

1. Replacement of SACM with new Fuse Control Module (FCM)

  • Increases performance and reliability compared to legacy Smart AC Module (SACM).
  • New FCM improves electrical durability and reduces susceptibility to miswiring.
  • Adds integrated brownout protection using a PTC fuse.
  • Supports improved compatibility with the updated contactor system.

2. Better brownout protection

  • The new PTC acts an in-circuit fuse, thereby protecting the FCM and system from brownout conditions.
  • Automatically resumes operation once power conditions normalize.
  • Helps prevent switch or generator controller failures caused by low-voltage events.

3. Integrated Surge Protection Device (SPD)

  • Standardized Metro Gray finish across the product line.

  • Installer Fast-Mount cleat system allows the enclosure to hang securely before final fastening.
  • Reduces the need to hold the enclosure in place during installation.
  • Saves approximately 10–30 minutes of install time depending on configuration.
  • Designed for flexibility across different wall materials.
