After using a Generac pump, it is important to perform a few essential steps before storing it for a short or extended period. Proper storage will help ensure that the pump is safe and ready to use the next time it is needed.

After each use of a Generac Pump:
 

  1. Remove the priming cap and drain plug from the pump housing and allow it to drain thoroughly.​

  2. Flush the pump case with clean fresh water.​

  3. Disconnect hoses and drain water.​

  4. Cover intake and discharge ports to prevent the entry of debris during storage.​

  5. If not using the pump for more than 30 days, prepare the engine for long-term storage.  To keep fuel fresh, use a fuel stabilizer or drain fuel into an approved container.  Run the engine until it stops from a lack of fuel.
