Public Answer
The low-pressure detergent nozzle has a larger opening than the other nozzles. This larger opening creates low pressure at the nozzle and reduces pressure on the outlet port of the pump. This causes the spring-loaded ball to drop inside the detergent injector port to draw the detergent into the water stream. The detergent nozzle will be black.

If a high-pressure nozzle is installed on the end of the lance, no detergent will be drawn into the pump since it will not create the required pressure drop.

If the PowerDial™ Gun is being used it will need to be set to the soap setting in addition to using the soap nozzle or it will not siphon. This is because that knob is also controlling orifices within the gun.
