Environment

This article applies to iQ3500 portable generators that are not producing power, i.e., no AC output. 
 

Causes 

• The generator is overloaded. 
• The Inverter module is overheated. 
• Short circuit in an electrical device or appliance. 
• Defective inverter assembly. 

 

Troubleshooting scenarios 

The generator is overloaded

1. Disconnect all loads. 
2. Shut down the generator to reset the module. 
3. Reduce loads and restart the generator. 
 

The Inverter module is overheated

1. Verify that the service door is ON. 
2. Let cool for 15 minutes by running the engine without AC output. 
3. Press and hold the RESET button on the control panel and restart the generator. 

 

There is a short circuit in a connected electrical device or appliance

1. Verify the condition of extension cords and items being powered.
2. Press and hold the RESET button on the control panel. 
 

Defective inverter assembly

1. If a defective inverter is suspected, please ensure all troubleshooting steps have been taken. 2. Contact your nearest Generac Certified Service Dealer.
