Pressure washer maintenance

After the first 5 hours of use

Change the engine oil. DO NOT attempt any oil maintenance on axial cam pumps. The pump is lubricated and sealed at the factory. No additional maintenance is required for the life of the pump. See: How Do I Perform Oil Maintenance on a Pressure Washer Triplex Pump?

Engine oil capacity

• If the pressure washer is less than 3800 PSI, its oil capacity is 20 oz. / .6 liters.
• If the pressure washer is 3800 PSI or greater, its oil capacity is 37 oz. / 1.1 liters.

Every 8 hours or daily

• Inspect and clean the water inlet screen. Clean if clogged, replace if perforated or torn: What Maintenance Accessories Can I Purchase for My Pressure Washer?
• Inspect the high-pressure hose. High-pressure hoses can develop leaks from wear, kinking, or abuse. Inspect for cuts, leaks, abrasions, bulging, and damage before each use. If conditions exist, replace the hose immediately. Be sure to keep the high-pressure hose away from the engine’s exhaust to prevent damage to the hose.
• Inspect the detergent siphoning hose and filter. Inspect the filter on the detergent tube and clean it if clogged. The tube should fit tightly on the barbed fitting. Examine the tube for leaks or tears and replace it if either is damaged.
• Inspect the spray gun for leaks. A pulsing sensation felt when squeezing the spray gun may be caused by excessive pump pressure. Typical causes are nozzle clogs or restrictions. Immediately clean the nozzle.
• Clean debris off of the pressure washer.
• Inspect the engine oil level.

Every 20 hours or every season

• Change the engine oil. Service engine oil more often if the unit is used under dirty or dusty conditions.

Every 50 hours or every season

• Inspect and clean the air cleaner filter.
• Inspect the muffler and spark arrestor. Clean if clogged and replace if perforated or torn.

Every 100 hours or every season

• Service the spark plug.
