“Fuel monitor has no LTE signal” error message in Mobile Link

This error indicates the fuel monitoring device is having difficulty communicating with nearby cellular towers.

Environment

This article applies to Generac Cellular Fuel Monitoring devices that are compatible with Mobile Link. This error message appears when using the Mobile Link app or Mobile Link Web App (app.mobilelinkgen.com).

Troubleshooting

1. Check orientation: Ensure the fuel monitor is upright (vertical) and unobstructed by foliage, terrain, or man-made structures that could interfere with the cellular signal.
2. Confirm cellular network: Confirm the location of the nearest cell towers and the corresponding provider. Use the carrier’s online coverage map to determine whether there are any ongoing outages.
   1. Generac Fuel Monitors receive coverage from all major U.S. cellular carriers, including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular, as well as select regional carriers.
3. Check batteries: Reseat the batteries by removing them, waiting a few seconds, and reinstalling the same batteries. Ensure lithium batteries are used, not alkaline. Energizer lithium L91 batteries are recommended. If the LEDs do not respond after reseating, replace the batteries with new ones.
   1. Batteries cannot be removed on Gen 5 fuel monitors.
4. Retrigger with activation magnet: Hold the activation magnet in place for three seconds to reactivate the device. Holding the magnet longer than three seconds may place the monitor into sleep mode or initiate a factory reset.
5. Verify fuel monitor type: How do I know which fuel monitor I have?
   
   If these steps do not restore connectivity, the cellular signal strength at the installation location may be insufficient to support reliable communication.
