Fuse Problem: Error Code 2400

 

Environment

• Generac Next Generation Series 10-28 kW air-cooled standby generators
• Generac Guardian Series 10-26 kW air-cooled standby generators (2017 to present)

Overview

Error code: 2400

LED Indicator: Red

Fault: Fuse Problem

Issue: The 7.5 amp controller fuse is missing or blown.

Potential Causes: Improperly placed or blown fuse, or a problem with the generator battery or battery cables

Note: The term "error code" is used interchangeably with 'alarm code,' 'fault code,' 'fault alarm' and similar terminology. Error code applies to all such terminology. 

 

Safety precautions when inspecting your generator's fuse

• Turn the generator OFF using the control panel (press the OFF button).

• Set the main utility disconnect to OFF to remove utility power from the generator system.

• Turn off the generator’s main line circuit breaker (inside the generator enclosure) to disconnect power from internal circuits.

• Wait several minutes before working inside the generator to allow any residual voltage to dissipate.

• Do not touch live wires or terminals. Use insulated tools and wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment).

• If you’re unsure or uncomfortable performing the inspection, contact a certified service dealer.

Checking the fuse on Next Generation Air-Cooled Standby generators

The fuse is located on the generator control panel (A), underneath a rubber flap (B).

Check to confirm if the fuse is properly in place and inspect if it has been blown. 

• If the fuse is blown, it will need to be replaced. Replacement 7.5-amp fuses can be found at most hardware and auto parts stores.
• If the fuse has been verified to be in good condition, check to confirm if the fuse is pushed all the way in and is properly in place.
• If the fuse is in good condition and in place, check the battery and battery cables: How Do I Inspect the Battery On My Home Standby Generator?
• If this error code persists after replacing the fuse and the battery, a service visit from a local dealer may be required so that a trained professional can test the starter circuit for continuity to uncover why the fuse is consistently blowing. 

 

Guardian series generators

The fuse is located on the generator control panel (A), underneath a rubber flap (B).

Check to confirm if the fuse is properly in place and inspect if it has been blown.
