Generac portable generator warranty information

Portable generators come with a 2-year limited warranty or 3-year limited warranty, depending on the model. The warranty duration for a specific model can be confirmed by entering the generator's model or serial number on the product lookup page. The lookup results provide available documentation for the generator, which may include the owner's manual, exploded views, wiring diagrams, and the applicable warranty statement PDF.

Portable generator warranties cover repairs resulting from product defects and parts that require premature replacement. For more information on the warranty process, see How does the portable generator warranty process work?

Customers who need warranty diagnosis or repair should contact an Independent Authorized Service Dealer (IASD). Use the dealer locator to find an IASD in the area.

Where can I get a copy of my portable generator warranty statement?

To download the warranty statement for a specific portable generator model, visit the product lookup page and enter the generator's model or serial number. The applicable warranty statement PDF will be listed with the other available product documentation.

Note: An emissions warranty statement is separate from the generator's standard warranty statement. If the paperwork included with the generator only contains an emissions warranty statement, use the product lookup page to find the standard warranty statement for the specific model.

Can I purchase an extended warranty for my portable generator?

Yes. Customers may purchase an extended warranty for their Generac portable generator up to one year after the original date of purchase, subject to applicable eligibility requirements.

Example: Taylor purchased his portable generator on October 1, 2026. He has until September 30, 2027, to purchase an extended warranty for his generator.

Customers interested in purchasing an extended warranty should contact a Generac Independent Authorized Service Dealer (IASD) to discuss available options, eligibility, and purchasing requirements. Use the dealer locator to find an authorized dealer in your area.

Note: Extended warranty pricing may vary. Contact an IASD for current pricing, available extended warranty options, and eligibility information for your specific portable generator model.

Reconditioned portable generator warranty

Certain retailers and Generac service dealers offer reconditioned portable generators for sale. These generators generally come with a 1-year limited warranty.
