Understanding the power output and capacity of the GB Series Portable Power Station

GB Series Portable Power Station output and capacity

The Generac GB Series Portable Power Stations are available in 2 different models which offer both a 1086 Wh capacity (GB1000) and a 2106 Wh capacity (GB2000).  Despite the variance in the capacity of these units, the power output is the same for both units.
 

Power output

• This is the continuous power the unit can provide to keep devices operating under normal conditions

• This is the extra power needed momentarily to start up devices with motors or compressors, which initially require a surge of power.  

Power capacity of the unit

The power capacity of a GB Series Power Station is measured in watt-hours (Wh), indicating the amount of energy the battery can store, and is available in two capacity options: 

GB1000 = 1086 watt-hours (Wh)
GB2000 = 2106 watt-hours (Wh)
 

What is a watt-hour?

A watt-hour is a unit of energy representing the amount of work done by one watt of power over one hour. It helps determine how long the power station can run various devices based on their power consumption. 

 

Calculating usage time

To determine how long the power station can run your devices, you need to know their wattage and the power station's capacity in watt-hours. 

 

Example devices and calculation

• Laptop: 45 watts
   
• Wi-Fi router: 15 watts

Steps for calculation

1. Sum the power requirements of your devices: 

• Total power required = power of laptop + power of Wi-Fi router
• Total power required = 45 watts + 15 watts= 60 watts

2. Select the capacity of the power station: 

• Options: 1086 Wh or 2106 Wh

3. Calculate the running time: 

• For the GB1000 (1086 Wh)

• For the GB2000 (2106 Wh)
