What's the Difference Between Single-Phase and 3-Phase Power?
Single-phase power produces one single continuously alternating voltage represented by a single sine wave. This varying wave causes the power level to drop throughout the normal process. 3-phase power produces 3 separate sine waves of AC power represented by 3 sine waves. These operate in sequence to ensure there is always a continuous flow of energy and the power level never dips as in single-phase systems.
