Why would the N1/N2/T1 fuses blow during installation?

The fuses for N1/N2/T1 can blow during installation due to a surge of power from utility, or due to improper handling of the wires during installation. The fuses should be replaced by a certified installer if blown. A fuse with a higher amperage should NOT be used when replacing as this can lead to non-warrantable damage.

Note: Contact a certified installer to replace switch fuses. The N1/N2 wires/fuses are a 240v circuit and the T1 circuit is always on with 120v current, even when the home standby generator is not powering the house. See How Can I Find a Generac Service Dealer in My Area? for more information.

What happens if only one of the utility sensing fuses blows?

One fuse blown is enough of a power loss for the generator to think there is an actual utility outage. This will cause the generator to start and transfer. The generator will not recognize that the utility is actually fully available until the blown fuse is replaced.
