Transfer switch warranty

Environment

This article applies to Generac automatic transfer switches.

Warranty coverage

Whether purchased as a bundle or standalone, a Generac automatic transfer switch (ATS) comes with a separate 5-year limited warranty. Similar to Generac home standby generators, the ATS warranty covers:

  • Parts, Labor and Limited Travel for the first two years
  • Parts only for the third year
  • Major Parts Components (contactor and service disconnect breaker) for years four and five

If the ATS is purchased as part of a bundle with a generator, it should be installed and activated on the same day as the generator. This means both devices will have the same activation date, and therefore the same warranty coverage period.

If an extended warranty is purchased for the generator, it can be applied to the ATS as well, provided the ATS is installed and activated at the same time as the Generator. An authorized Generac installer can help you with this, or if needed, call Generac at 888-436-3722 to apply the extended warranty to the ATS.

Manual transfer switches are not covered under the 5-year warranty and will come with a separate warranty. To locate the warranty statement for a manual transfer switch, enter the product's model number or serial number on the Generac product lookup page.
