Generac Generators with Onboard Wi-Fi Chips
Generac Guardian Series home standby generators from 10kW to 26kW, manufactured after 2018, come equipped with a factory-installed Onboard Wi-Fi Module, provided they have an Evolution 2.0 controller or Honeywell Sync 3.0 controller. Generators that did not come with the factory installed device could install an aftermarket device, provided they were compatible.
Environment
This article applies to compatible Guardian-series generators that came with a factory-installed onboard Wi-Fi device.
Note: The 7.5kW PowerPact Home Standby Generator is NOT Mobile Link compatible (Wi-Fi or cellular).
Which Generac generators came with the onboard device?
Units that had the Wi-Fi module factory-installed met the following criteria:
How do I know if I have the onboard Wi-Fi module?
Device identification: This is what the device looks like, it is located on the back side of the generator housing.

Device location: The module can be seen/visible from the exterior of the generator. The back of the module will look like a grey cap/cover. Listed as item A in the below image.

Location inside the generator: Below is an internal generator view showing the location of the onboard Wi-Fi device. By removing the silver plate for customer connections, the module can be seen. The harness will route and plug into port 1 on the control panel. While plugged in (even if not connected) the module should be blinking green.

Experiencing Wi-Fi connection issues?
Upgrading to the Connectivity Cellular Accessory is recommended for users who wish to add connectivity to their generator or users experiencing ongoing connectivity issues. It is compatible with more generators and uses multiple carrier networks to offer greater coverage. Basic (free) and Premium cellular plans are available for users of this device. See here to upgrade: Connectivity Cellular Accessory.
