Mobile Link device history
A connectivity device refers to the hardware module containing the antenna and components that allow communicating generator controller data wirelessly to Mobile Link. This article provides historical context for each of these devices. Current devices
Connectivity Cellular Accessory:

- Standard connectivity device included in newer model generators, also can be purchased as an after-market upgrade (see below)
- Released February/March 2025
- Part number G0072150
- Uses towers across carriers via dual sim cards
- Upgrade compatibility: Compatible with all generator controllers that were compatible with the Onboard Wi-Fi, 4G/LTE, and Wi-Fi/Ethernet devices
Onboard W-Fi Device:
- Installed in the factory for Guardian series generators (not an aftermarket device)*
- Released on generators June/July 2018
- Part number (original A0000538695) A0002197676
- Uses the home Wi-Fi network at the installation site of the generator
*During a manufacturing shortage, there was a campaign to provide this device as an aftermarket accessory to new generator owners as they became available: Is the Wi-Fi Kit Compatible with My Generator?
Legacy Devices
These devices have been replaced by the above Connectivity Cellular Device. Connectivity products designated as "accessory devices" were available as aftermarket devices that could be retrofit to a compatible generator. This allowed generator owners to connect their units to Mobile Link, even if the generator did not originally ship from the factory with a connectivity device.
CDMA Device:
- Released in approximately 2013/2014
- Discontinued and no longer usable due to CDMA network being shut down
- Part number G0064630
- This device was a cellular 1x/2G device
- Used Verizon Towers (Support for this device and the compatible Verizon Towers was discontinued on December 31, 2022)
4G LTE Accessory Device:
- Aftermarket accessory
- Released April 16, 2019
- Discontinued, but still being used in many units
- Part numbers:
- The original Part for Full kit G0071690 was discontinued on May 26, 2023
- Retrofit (discontinued) G00702020 was utilized as a CDMA upgrade
- Updated Part: G0072080 May 26, 2023- current
- Can no longer be purchased (retailers or dealers may still have some) but can still be used
- Uses Verizon Towers
Wi-Fi/Ethernet Accessory Device:
- Aftermarket accessory
- Requires a dedicated 2.4 Ghz wireless network: Is My Wi-Fi Network Compatible With Mobile Link?
- Released June 2020
- Discontinued, but still being used in many units

- Became standard on liquid-cooled generators starting in approximately November 2021
- Used the home network at the installation site of the generator
