How-to: Adding oil to a Generac portable generator
Environment:
This article applies to most Generac portable generator engines.
1. Make sure the generator is on level ground. This ensures the oil level is properly measured by the generator's oil sensor.
2. Unscrew the oil cap and fill the generator to the fill line. 3. Check the dipstick to make sure the oil level is at the FULL marker.
Oil quantity
Oil should be filled to the fill line. Oil quantity can be verified using the dipstick. Oil capacities vary by model. Capacities are listed in the specifications listed for each portable generator's owner's manual.
