Air-Cooled Standby Generator Fuel Conversion

Most Generac air-cooled units are factory-set for natural gas (NG) and easily field convertible to liquid propane (LP).  A fuel conversion knob is located on the mixer body, just behind the air filter. On 10 kW models, the conversion knob will be under the mixer rather than on top and will be turned counterclockwise.

Note: For information regarding fuel conversion for liquid-cooled home standby models, reference the Can I Convert a Liquid-Cooled Standby Generator to Run on a Different Fuel Source? article.

Note: The 7.5 kW PowerPact requires swapping mechanical fuel jets.

To convert to LP, press and turn the fuel knob 180° clockwise. The knob should then point to the front of the enclosure. On 10 kW models, the conversion knob will be under the mixer rather than on top and will be turned counterclockwise.

Note: If the orange lever in the image shown below is not present, then the generator likely does not have this fuel conversion capability, and fuel jets will need to be swapped out.
