What does the battery do?

The battery is indispensable to the function of the generator, providing the necessary power to start the engine and, by extension, generate electricity. Since the battery is responsible for starting the generator, a well-functioning battery is critical for generator reliability in the event of a utility outage. The battery charger is integrated into the home standby generator's controller. The charger provides current directly to the battery and is powered through a 120VAC fused circuit from the transfer switch.
