Which battery does my generator need?
For specific battery size information, check the generator's spec sheet or check the Battery Type Section of your generator's product overview on the Online Product Lookup tool. Note that many home standby generator models share the same battery specifications, but you should always consult the official user manual to verify the appropriate battery for your specific model.
Example of a battery information shown on a product page on Generac.com:

- Most air-cooled units (except for the PowerPact) will use a Group 26R 540 CCA (standard lead acid) or 35 AGM 650 CCA (sealed, better for cold temperatures) at a minimum.
- Most air-cooled, besides the PowerPact, can use AGM batteries.
- PowerPact batteries must be Group U1, 12 volts and 300 CCA minimum
- Some generators do NOT support charging for AGM batteries. Consult your user manual.
- Liquid-cooled generator owners should always consult their spec sheets and owner manuals to confirm battery compatibility. See How Do I Find a Copy of My Home Standby Generator Owner's Manual, Spec Sheets, or Installation Manual? for more information.
