Issue

The controller displays Wiring Error Code 2099.

Environment

This article applies to Generac air and liquid-cooled home standby generators.

Cause

This error code indicates miswiring. It speaks to wires being crossed, for example, the N1 to 194, or 23 to T1, or if one of the AC (N1, N2, T1) wires is crossed with the DC wires (194, 23, 0). The error code indicates exactly which wires are crossed.

Troubleshooting

Note: We do NOT recommend end users attempt to modify or service internal generator wiring. Generac-certified dealers are trained to service Generac generators and can be contacted using the dealer lookup tool on Generac's site. See How Can I Find a Generac Service Dealer in My Area? for more information.

This error indicates that wires are crossed in the customer connections panel. Shut down the power, and then check the customer connections panel to ensure wires are not crossed. See the What Is the Purpose of the Generac Home Standby Generator Control Wires? article for more information.
