What will compromise my generator's warranty?
Proper installation and correct use of a Generac home standby generator allows for safe and reliable operation of the home standby generator system.
Environment
This information applies to Generac residential and commercial home standby generator systems.
Improper generator use and installation practices
The following installation practices and uses will compromise the warranty of a Generac home standby generator:
- If the generator is used as Prime Power (i.e. Where no utility power is present such as hunting cabins, etc.)
- If the generator is used to charge backup battery systems for alternative energy sources (this does not apply to the EcoGen).
- If the installation is improper and/or violates code (Clearance requirements, wiring, fuel supply, etc.) See the What Should I Know About Clearance Requirements When Installing My Generator? article for more information.
- If the original design of the generator is modified (extending the exhaust, etc.)
- If the generator is installed indoors.

Use an independent authorized service dealer
