Troubleshooting the Mobile Link G3 Cellular Accessory Device

Environment

G3 Cellular Accessory Device LED statuses

LED StatusDescriptionTroubleshooting Steps
SolidThe accessory is fully functional.This is expected behavior.
Pulsing slowly off and onThe accessory is booting and attempting to establish a cellular connection.This is expected behavior.
LED offThe accessory is not powered.
  1. Verify the battery is connected.
  2. Verify the cable harness is connected to the accessory (the threaded connection is fully seated), and is connected to the generator controller.
  3. If the problem persists, replace the cable harness.
  4. If the problem persists after replacing the harness, replace the accessory.
Blinking: 1 BlinkThere is an issue communicating with the generator controller.
  1. Verify the cable harness is securely connected to the generator controller. 
  2. Verify the generator controller is operational.
  3. If the problem persists, replace the cable harness. 
Blinking: 2 BlinksThere is a cellular communication error. Note: It may take up to 15 minutes to establish a cellular connection.
  1. Inspect the environment for any metal objects or other mechanical interference that could block cellular performance. 
  2. Clear any debris that could be contributing to signal degradation if possible. 
  3. If the problem persists, communicate the location to Generac for further investigation of the area.

 

If you need to determine the controller type:

  • The data decal on the inside of the front cover of the generator lists the controller part number
    • Evolution 2.0
      • 10000003275
    • Other controller models:
      • Nexus: 06680* or 0H7668*
      • Evolution: 1.0: 0J8371C or 0K2267C

 

The generator serial number can be searched at https://www.generac.com/service-support/product-supportlookup and the generator type can be used to determine the controller.
