Read the manual thoroughly and understand all of the instructions, cautions, and warnings before using this equipment. If any section of the manual is not understood, contact your nearest authorized dealer, or contact Generac Customer Service at 1-888-436-3722 (1-888-GENERAC), or www.generac.com with any questions or concerns.

Schedule C Maintenance

Home standby generators require specific maintenance tasks to be completed at different intervals to ensure proper operation and longevity. Schedule C maintenance refers to a collection of tasks that should be performed promptly after the generator has accumulated 25 run hours, typically during the initial break-in period. Home standby generators are equipped with a yellow maintenance alert which will display on the generator's side status light when the Schedule C Maintenance interval has been reached. Completing Schedule C maintenance helps ensure the generator operates smoothly during its first critical hours of use. For more information about maintenance alerts, see What is the difference between maintenance reminders, warnings, and alarms?

Environment

This article applies to Generac Next Generation Series air-cooled generators during the Schedule C maintenance interval (after the first 25 run hours).

Schedule C Maintenance Tasks

Who can perform maintenance?

Homeowners can perform regular maintenance tasks as outlined in their generator's user manual. Alternatively, homeowners can contact a local certified service dealer. See Where can I find a company to perform maintenance on my generator? for more information.

Reset the maintenance reminder and update the log

Regardless of who performs the service, maintenance records should be kept for future reference. The Mobile Link for Generators app can be used to record and track these tasks. When you clear a maintenance reminder in the app, it also resets the generator’s internal maintenance interval clock for recurring items. Always confirm that the maintenance log reflects the most recent activity. For details, see Viewing, adding, deleting, & exporting maintenance schedule records in Mobile Link

Next steps

After maintenance procedures have been completed, it is important to follow the post-maintenance check procedure to ensure the home standby unit is "ready to run", as well as document/record the maintenance performed.
