Parts for portable generators
Generac portable generators are designed and built to be durable and reliable. However, like any mechanical device, parts can wear or become damaged over time and may require replacement.
Generac offers a wide variety of replacement parts for their portable generators, which can be easily obtained online or by contacting a local authorized dealer. In many cases, parts can be easily identified and replaced by the owner, following the instructions provided in the owner's manual. Generator manuals and exploded view documents can be found by using the product lookup tool.
It is important to always:
- Use genuine Generac replacement parts to ensure optimal performance and avoid potential safety hazards
- Follow the maintenance schedule provided in the owner's manual
- Promptly addressing any necessary repairs.
Consumables vs components
Replacement parts for portable generators can be placed in one of two categories: Consumables or components.
Consumables will need to be replaced at regular intervals in the generator's life. Examples include air filters, oil filters, or spark plugs.
Components are the mechanical parts that make up the generator assembly. Examples include carburetors or head gaskets.
Generally speaking, the older the generator, the harder it is to source replacement component parts. This is especially true after a product is no longer in production.
Identifying part numbers
When searching for a replacement part, the best place to look is usually the product's Exploded View (EV). These are technical documents that will list each individual part of a generator and provide part numbers. Exploded view documents for most generator models can be found by using the product lookup tool.
Here is an example of what an exploded view document looks like:
