Where do I find the serial and model number on my portable generator?
The serial and model number are printed on every Generac portable generator. The exact location of the serial and model number on may vary depending on the generator model and year of manufacture. Once the serial number and/or model number are known, portable generator product documentation can be found on our product lookup page.

Serial number characteristics and data label appearance
The serial number for newer portable generators begins with 300. Look for a sticker or metal plate on the frame or enclosure of the generator that looks like the image below:

Serial number locations
The location of your portable generator serial number will vary based on the enclosure type, and your generator model:
Open frame portable generators typically have the serial number displayed in one of two places:
- On the bottom metal crossbar of the generator frame:

- On the inside of the front control panel (where the outlets, breakers, and switches are located) or rear metal panel:

Fully enclosed inverter generators typically have the serial number displayed in one of two places:
- On a label on the enclosures exterior:

- On the inside of the enclosure (plastic cover must be removed with a screwdriver):

I still can't find the serial number. Where should I look?

If the generator was purchased recently, and you still have the original box, the serial number may also be printed there.
