Portable generator ventilation requirements 

Under no circumstances should a portable generator be operated indoors, in a garage, or in an enclosed area. Portable generators are specifically designed to run outside where there is ample ventilation. It is essential to position portable generators away from doors and windows to prevent exhaust fumes from entering the house. Carbon monoxide gas, which is produced by the generator, can cause serious poisoning.

In addition to proper ventilation, it is important to protect a portable generator from moisture, rain, and snow by positioning it in a safe location. Taking these precautions can help ensure that the generator operates efficiently and safely and that everyone near the generator is protected from the harmful effects of carbon monoxide gas.
