This article provides a brief overview of Generac-compatible propane fuel monitors and how to identify which model you have.

Wi-Fi monitor (pre-2016)

These legacy Wi-Fi monitors were offered prior to 2016. They are no longer available for purchase and are no longer supported by Generac because the underlying technology is obsolete. These are also not supported by Anova (see below).

Legacy Wi-Fi fuel monitor (pre-2016)

LTE (V, V1, VP, MC, MCP) monitor (~2016 release)

These LTE monitors were released around 2016. They require manual battery replacement and have limited cellular carrier options. Multiple versions exist (V, V1, VP, MC, MCP). To identify the exact version, check the serial number data decal on the back of the monitor.

About V1 “supplier-side” monitors

The V1 version of these monitors is supported by Anova. Customers with supplier-side V1 units may receive emails from Anova and instructions to set up their account via Tank Utility.

Note: Generac no longer supports the supplier-side V1 monitors. For assistance with a supplier V1 monitor, contact Anova at TU.support@anova.com.

To create an account and add a V1 supplier monitor, register via app.tankutility.com.

If preferred, customers can purchase a Generac-branded fuel monitor instead of using a supplier-managed V1 device.

Gen 5 monitor (2024 release)

The Gen 5 monitor is the newest model (released in 2024). It is larger and wider than prior versions, offers broader cellular connectivity options, and does not require manual battery changes. The battery is internal and rechargeable. 

If you have a newer unit labeled “Generac Fuel Tracker Gen 5 LTE”: Although these are branded Generac, they are owned and supported by Anova. To set up an account, go to app.tankutility.com. For support on these monitors, contact TU.support@anova.com.
