What is a Soft Starter?

A soft starter is an electrical device used with alternating current motors to reduce the electrical load demand on the generator when energy-intensive devices start. This reduction is achieved through reducing the startup current of the appliance's motor and reducing the torque to improve efficiency. SureStart Soft Starter is compatible with air conditioners, heat pumps, and air handlers ranging from 1.5 to 7 horsepower and has LED fault indicators, over-current protection, and built-in self-learning algorithms, among other features.
