Why won’t my GB power station charge?

If your GB power station will not charge, the charging source may be incompatible, a connection may be loose, the power station may be outside the supported charging temperature range, or the AC circuit breaker may need to be reset.

Important safety information

IMPORTANT: Always use the charging cord supplied with the power station. Charging the unit with non-Generac equipment may cause damage or unsafe operation.

Troubleshooting

Charging temperature range

The GB power station charging temperature range is 32 °F to 104 °F, or 0 °C to 40 °C. If the power station is outside this range, charging may stop or be limited until the unit returns to a supported temperature.

If AC charging does not work 

• Confirm the AC outlet or AC power source is working.
• Confirm the AC charging cord is fully seated.
• Reset the AC circuit breaker.
• Try a different compatible AC power source.

If solar charging does not work

• Confirm your GB power station is compatible with the solar panels being used: GB Power Station and solar panel compatibility
• Confirm the solar panel cable is firmly connected to the DC charge input port.
• Move the solar panel to direct sunlight. 
• Position the solar panel at a 90-degree angle to the sunlight: 
  

 

• Confirm the panel surface is clean and free of dirt or debris.
• Confirm the solar panel meets your GB power station input requirements of 11-30 VDC, 18.8 A maximum, and up to 440 W.
• If using two solar panels, confirm both panels are the same model.

If car charging does not work

• Confirm the vehicle is running before charging.
• Confirm the car charging cord is firmly connected.
• Disconnect the power station before turning the vehicle off.

IMPORTANT: Car charging can drain the vehicle battery. Only charge the power station while the vehicle is running.

If you have confirmed that your GB power station still will not charge after confirming charging source compatibility, power source operation, secure connections, supported temperature range, and AC circuit breaker reset, please contact Generac Customer Support.
