Sign up for a Mobile Link account using the mobile app

Home standby generator owners can monitor their generators using the Mobile Link browser or mobile app.

Mobile Link details

  • After signing up, both the web browser and the mobile app can be used to access your user account. You do not need to sign up separately for the mobile app and website.
  • A Mobile Link account is not required for the generator to operate.
  • Homeowners should always verify they have a reliable Wi-Fi or 4G LTE connection at the generator before subscribing to a Mobile Link plan.
    • For Wi-Fi, please ensure you have a dedicated 2.4GHz network and the router meets wireless protocol specifications 802.11 b, g, or n.

Note: If working with a Generac service dealer, there is potential to enroll in a dealer-managed plan. Contact your desired service dealer with subscription questions (please do so before signing up for paid services as refunds are not offered). Environment

Sign up via the Mobile app: This article applies users that want to sign up for a Mobile Link account using the Mobile Link app available in the iOS or Android store. If you want to sign up using the website, see: How to Set up A Mobile Link Account via the Website

Sign up for a Mobile Link account using the Mobile Link app

  1. Download, install, and open the Mobile Link App from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, then click Get Started.
  2. On the Let's get started screen, choose I purchased a Generac Product and I need to create an account.
  3. Enter your email address.
  4. Click SEND VERIFICATION CODE. A verification code will be sent to the email address provided.

Note: This code verifies ownership of the email address and helps protect user security

  1. Log into the email account and locate the email from noreply@mobilelinkgen.com. It will contain a 6-digit code. Write it down or remember it, then return to the app.
  2. Enter the 6-digit code in the Verification Code field, then tap VERIFY CODE.
  3. A message will confirm your email address. Choose a password and enter it in both the New Password and Confirm New Password fields.

Note: Passwords must be at least 12 characters and can include letters, numbers, or special characters

  1. Review and accept the Mobile Link End-user License Agreement, Terms and Conditions, and Privacy Statement. Check the I Agree box and tap NEXT.
  2. On the Owner Information screen, enter your First Name, Last Name, and Phone Number, then tap the arrow in the lower-right corner.
  3. Enter your Owner Address by tapping the address search text box.
  4. Type the street address into the search box. The app will suggest matches based on your entry.
  5. Tap the correct address from the list provided.

Note: If the correct address is not listed, choose I don't see my address for additional options

  1. When finished, tap SAVE.

Having Issues Verifying your email?

When verifying your email, you never want to fully close out of the app only "minimize" it so you can bring it back up after accessing your email for the code. Minimizing an app and bringing it up may vary slightly by device. But here are some instructions to help for android and apple below. 

To minimize the app on an Android:

  1. Click on your home button.
  2. Open up the app for your email and open the email.  Copy the code.
  3. Click on the 3 lines icon (may be to the left or the right of the home button depending on your phone).
  4. If you have more than one app open currently, you may need to use your finger to slide through to find the Mobile Link app again. Once you found it, click on the app.
  5. Enter in the code into the verification code field.

To minimize the app on an iOS device:

  1. Click on your home button (or phones without a home button swipe up from bottom of screen).
  2. Open up the app for your email and open the email.  Copy the code.
  3. Swipe up from bottom of screen to bring up the minimized apps.
  4. If you have more than one app open currently, you may need to use your finger to slide through to find the Mobile Link app again. Once you found it, click on the app.
  5. Enter in the code into the verification code field.

Potential Solutions:

It may be easier to use a separate device; one to complete the verification process and the other to open your email.
