Hardware device and plan compatibility
Plan eligibility and feature availability depend on the generator controller, installed Mobile Link connectivity device, account location, and selected subscription. A feature may be included with Premium but remain unavailable if the generator controller cannot perform the required command.
- To identify which Wi-Fi, Ethernet, cellular, or legacy 4G LTE devices can be used with a generator, see the Mobile Link Wi-Fi, cellular, and LTE device compatibility guide.
- To compare the Mobile Link functions and commands supported by each controller, see What functionality and commands does each generator controller support?
- Basic and Premium monitoring are available with supported Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity devices. The older Wi-Fi/Ethernet and 4G LTE accessories have been discontinued, although installed devices may remain in service.
- Fuel monitors require a paid plan that includes fuel-monitor capacity. A free stand-alone fuel-monitor plan is not available.
Next Generation Series compatibility
Next Generation Series generators (2025–present) can use the Mobile Link website for account management, subscription changes, and billing. Generator status monitoring and status history for these models are currently available only through the Mobile Link mobile app for iOS or Android. Web-browser monitoring through app.mobilelinkgen.com is not currently supported for these generators.
Basic and Premium feature comparison
The table below compares the customer-facing plan features currently documented in the Generac Help Center. Premium includes the standard Basic monitoring features in addition to paid features. Controller, connectivity, region, app version, and dealer-plan requirements may affect availability.
| Feature | Basic monitoring | Premium subscription | Compatible controllers or devices |
|---|
| Current generator status and status history | Included. View available generator status, status history, and reported fault or alarm codes. | Included. | Supported Mobile Link controllers and connectivity devices. Available status information and telemetry vary by controller. Next Generation Series status monitoring is mobile-app only. |
| Product manuals and support documents | Included. | Included. | Available for registered generator models that have documents associated with their model or serial number. This feature is not controller-specific. |
| Monthly email summary and maintenance tracking | Included. The monthly summary is generally sent within the first five business days of the month. | Included. | Supported generators enrolled in Mobile Link. Maintenance information varies by model and controller. |
| Immediate email, text, and push notifications | Not included. Basic customers continue to receive the monthly summary but do not receive immediate generator status notifications. | Included. Notification methods can include email, text message, and mobile push notification. | Supported generators and fuel monitors. The available notification detail depends on the connected product, controller telemetry, and network communication. |
| Export status history to a CSV file | Included where web-based status history is supported. | Included where web-based status history is supported. | Web app only. CSV export is not available in the iOS or Android app. It is not currently available for Next Generation Series generators because those generators do not support web-browser status history. |
| Change the generator exercise schedule | PowerZone 200 controllers can change the exercise day, time, and frequency over Bluetooth while the mobile device is within approximately 10 feet of the generator. Other controllers require changes at the generator control panel. | Remote exercise-schedule changes are supported on compatible controllers. | PowerZone 200 and Evolution 2.0 or Sync 3.0 provide the strongest support. Evolution 1.0, Sync 2.0, Nexus, and Pre-Nexus controllers may have limited or unreliable schedule-command support. |
| Exercise Now | Not included. | Included on compatible controllers. Starts an on-demand generator exercise without transferring the home to generator power. | Evolution 2.0, Sync 3.0, and PowerZone 200 controllers. |
| Exercise Now with power transfer | Not included. | Included on compatible systems. Starts an exercise and temporarily transfers the home from utility power to generator power. | Compatible Next Generation Series generators with a PowerZone 200 controller. |
| Change the exercise-cycle duration | Not included. | Included on compatible generators. | PowerZone 200 controllers only. Exercise duration is not adjustable through Mobile Link on most older controllers. |
| Remotely dismiss maintenance reminders and warnings | Not included. Reminders and warnings must be addressed and cleared at the generator controller. | Included on supported controllers after the underlying maintenance or warning condition has been addressed. | Evolution 2.0, Sync 3.0, and PowerZone 200 controllers. Unsupported controllers do not display the remote dismissal option. |
| Propane fuel-monitor enrollment and monitoring | Not included. There is no free stand-alone fuel-monitor plan. | Available with Single Fuel Monitor Premium, Single Home Premium, or Multi Home Premium plans. | Compatible Generac propane fuel monitors. A stand-alone fuel monitor does not depend on the generator controller. |
| ecobee smart-thermostat integration | Not included. | Included. Displays supported generator or fuel-monitor status and alerts on a compatible ecobee thermostat. | Mobile Link-supported generators and fuel monitors. A supported ecobee thermostat is also required. |
| Dealer-managed monitoring and automatic dealer alerts | Not included. | Available through a dealer-managed paid plan. It is not automatically included with a customer-managed Premium subscription. | Supported generators. The dealer’s ability to perform remote exercise, warning, or fault commands depends on the generator controller. |
Note: The Mobile Link application displays only the commands supported by the account plan, controller, connectivity device, and current generator status. An option may not appear when one or more requirements are not met.
Plan renewal, availability, and cancellation
Paid subscriptions renew automatically on a monthly or annual basis, depending on the selected plan. The renewal is billed to the payment method on file. Applicable taxes are added when the payment is processed.
- Annual subscriptions receive a reminder approximately 30 days before renewal. Monthly subscriptions may renew without a separate renewal reminder.
- Dealer-managed customers should contact their servicing Independent Authorized Service Dealer (IASD) for renewal, billing, or plan changes.
- Premium generator-monitoring plans are currently available in the United States and Canada. Basic plan and fuel-monitor availability varies by country. See Where is Mobile Link service available?
For renewal information, see How do I renew my Mobile Link subscription?
For cancellation instructions, see What if I want to cancel my Mobile Link subscription?
Note: Mobile Link subscription payments are generally nonrefundable. Canadian customers are billed in USD and may see currency-conversion differences.
Device and account limits
Personal Mobile Link subscriptions are account packages with limits based on the number and type of enrolled devices. Select the subscription that matches the generators and fuel monitors that will be included.
- Basic monitoring: Up to two generators and no fuel monitors.
- Single Generator Premium: One generator and no fuel monitors.
- Single Fuel Monitor Premium: One stand-alone fuel monitor.
- Single Home Premium: One generator and up to two fuel monitors.
- Multi Home Premium: Up to two generators and four fuel monitors.
Customers who need to monitor devices beyond the personal-account limits should consider a dealer-managed plan. Dealer-managed devices can be monitored outside the normal personal-account device limits. See How do I upgrade to a dealer-managed plan in Mobile Link?
How do I upgrade to a Premium subscription?
Before purchasing a paid subscription, confirm that the generator has a reliable Wi-Fi or cellular connection. For detailed website and mobile-app upgrade instructions, see How do I upgrade from a Basic to a Premium subscription?
Note: Subscribing through the iOS or Android app may cost more than subscribing through the Mobile Link website because of app-store processing fees.

Common subscription questions
If I enroll through the website, can I still use the mobile app?
Yes. Website and mobile-app enrollment create the same Mobile Link account. Customers can sign in to the Mobile Link mobile app regardless of where the subscription was purchased. The main difference between website and app enrollment is the billing process and recurring price.
Most supported generator models can also be monitored through the Mobile Link website. Next Generation Series generators are an exception and currently require the mobile app for generator status monitoring.
Can I monitor my Next Generation Series generator through a web browser?
No. Next Generation Series generators (2025–present) currently support generator status and status-history monitoring through the Mobile Link mobile app only. The Mobile Link website can still be used for account management, subscription changes, and billing.
What if I have more than two generators or more than four fuel monitors?
Personal Mobile Link plans do not support more than two generators and four fuel monitors in one subscription. Customers with additional devices should consider a dealer-managed plan. Dealer-managed plans allow a servicing dealer to monitor devices beyond the personal-plan limits.
To request contact from a service dealer, complete the standby generator service request form.
