Read the manual thoroughly and understand all of the instructions, cautions, and warnings before using this equipment. If any section of the manual is not understood, contact your nearest authorized dealer, or contact Generac Customer Service at 1-888-436-3722 (1-888-GENERAC), or www.generac.com with any questions or concerns.

Blank control panel

A completely blank controller display can be caused by a discharged battery, a blown fuse, a disconnected T1 circuit, or an unresponsive controller. Start with the quick checks below to restore the display and confirm the system is receiving power.

Environment

This applies to Generac home standby generators that feature a controller with a display.

Causes

  • Battery is discharged or disconnected.
  • 7.5 Amp fuse is blown
  • T1 circuit is damaged or disconnected
  • Controller is unresponsive and needs a reset

Resolution

The controller display is powered by the generator battery. If the display is completely blank, check the following:

1. Verify the screen doesn't advance by pressing ENTER or ESCAPE a few times.
2. Perform a hard reset. See How Do I Perform a Hard Reset on a Home Standby System?
3. Ensure the battery is correctly connected, charged, and supplying power to the generator. See How Do I Inspect the Battery On My Home Standby Generator?
4. Inspect the T1 circuit on the control panel to confirm it is not damaged or disconnected. See What is the layout of the control wires and what do they do?

5. Check the 7.5 Amp fuse. See What Does It Mean When My Generator Displays an Error Code: Fuse Problem, Code 2400?

Note: Generac support does NOT recommend end users attempt to modify or service internal generator wiring. Generac-certified dealers are trained to service Generac generators and can be contacted using the dealer lookup tool on Generac.com: How Can I Find a Generac Service Dealer in My Area?
