Read the manual thoroughly and understand all of the instructions, cautions, and warnings before using this equipment. If any section of the manual is not understood, contact your nearest authorized dealer, or contact Generac Customer Service at 1-888-436-3722 (1-888-GENERAC), or www.generac.com with any questions or concerns.

Blank Control Panel

Users have reported an issue where the display screen on the generator control panel is completely blank.

Environment

This applies to home standby generators that feature a controller with a display.

Causes

  • The battery has died
  • The 7.5 Amp fuse is blown
  • The T1 circuit is damaged or disconnected

Resolution

The control panel for a Generac home standby generator is powered by the battery inside the generator. If the controller display is completely blank, it is recommended to check the following items:

1. Ensure the battery is correctly connected, charged, and supplying power to the generator. Reference the How Do I Inspect the Battery On My Home Standby Generator?
2. Inspect the T1 circuit on the control panel to confirm it is not damaged or disconnected. Reference: What is the layout of the control wires and what do they do?

3. Check the 7.5 Amp fuse. See the What Does It Mean When My Generator Displays an Error Code: Fuse Problem, Code 2400? regarding the location of the fuse.

Note: Generac support does NOT recommend end users attempt to modify or service internal generator wiring. Generac-certified dealers are trained to service Generac generators and can be contacted using the dealer lookup tool on Generac.com: How Can I Find a Generac Service Dealer in My Area?
