Understanding and configuring Smart Exercise
Environment
This article applies to the Generac Next Gen Air-Cooled Generators (10–28kW) equipped with a PowerZone 200 controller.
What is Smart Exercise?
Smart Exercise is a feature available on select Next Gen Air-Cooled Generac generators with the PowerZone 200 controller. Unlike traditional fixed-schedule exercise modes, Smart Exercise is a feature which monitors generators last-time-ran. The generator will skip the next scheduled exercise if the generator ran for at least 5 consecutive minutes within the 72 hours prior to a scheduled exercise. This helps reduce unnecessary runtime and fuel consumption while ensuring the generator remains ready for operation.
Why use Smart Exercise?
- Reduces fuel usage by minimizing unnecessary exercise runs.
- Extends engine life by limiting runtime to only when beneficial for engine health.
- Ensures testing is based on actual operating history rather than arbitrary time intervals.
How to enable Smart Exercise
- Login to the Mobile Link app on your smartphone or tablet.
- Tap the generator card (tap the arrow > next to the generator name).
- Select the "Exercise Settings" option from the menu.
- Tap "Exercise Schedule".
- Toggle Smart Exercise to On.
Note: If Smart Exercise is turned off, you can manually set a weekly exercise schedule instead.
