Adjust generator settings in the Field Pro mobile app

This article shows installers and Generac certified service professionals how to use the Field Pro mobile app to adjust generator settings. Learn how to connect via Bluetooth and control key generator settings such as:

• Fuel type

• Cold smart start

• Exercise settings (schedule, duration, and preferences)

• Exercise frequency (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly), day, and time

• Low-speed exercise mode, smart exercise, and transfer-on-exercise

Note: End users should use the Mobile Link mobile app for all generator monitoring needs.

Environment

This article is for installers and Generac certified service professionals who need to adjust settings for a generator with a Power Zone 200 control panel using the Field Pro mobile app. 

• • Field Pro mobile app (latest version) on iOS or Android.
  • Next-Generation air-cooled home standby generators with a Power Zone 200 control panel.

Before you begin

 

• Ensure the generator is safe to service. Place the unit in into Service Mode: How to place a generator into Service Mode (PowerZone 200 models)
• Connect to the generator via the Field Pro app: How Do I Connect my Generator in the Field Pro Application?

Important: Installers and technicians must disable Service Mode when finishing the job or leaving the site, or the generator will not start automatically.

Procedure: Adjust generator settings

Connect via Bluetooth

1. The procedure below assumes that the Field Pro app is already connected to the generator via Bluetooth. For instructions, see the section above or click here.
2. From the dashboard, tap View generator details.
3. Scroll down to the Settings section. 

Configuration and Wi-Fi Configuration

1. Tap Configuration to view and adjust all key generator settings, including:

• • Fuel type
  • Cold smart start
  • Exercise settings (schedule) duration, and other preferences.

2. Tap Wi-Fi Configuration to set up a Wi-Fi connection if desired. The radio will connect to cellular automatically where available, but Wi-Fi is optional and will fall back to cellular if Wi-Fi becomes unavailable.

Certified Service Professional Access

1. Generac certified service professionals have additional access to adjust Calibration Settings for fine-tuning generator performance.
2. They can also toggle the two-wire start and auxiliary emergency shutdown switch on or off.

Exercise Settings

1. After scrolling down to the Settings section and tapping Configuration, tap Exercise Settings.
2. Here, you can customize the generator's:

• • Exercise frequency (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly)
  • Schedule (day, time of day)
  • Exercise duration
  • Preferences:
    
    • Low-speed exercise mode
    • Smart exercise
    • Transfer on exercise

Final steps

1. Review and confirm all changes in the app.
2. Return the generator to its normal operating mode.

Important: Always disable Service Mode when finishing the job or leaving the site, or the generator will not start automatically.
