Ensuring compatibility of the Mobile Link app with your device's operating system (OS)

Mobile Link is designed to support and is tested with the current iOS or Android version and the two previous versions. Compatibility with earlier versions may vary. 

If your phone does not fall within these supported operating system requirements, you can still access Mobile Link on your phone through a web browser at app.mobilelinkgen.com.

Cause

If you encounter a "Device Not Compatible" error message when trying to install the app, it may be due to an outdated operating system on your device. Included below are the steps to verify the latest version of your operating system and make sure your device can run our app effectively. 
 

How to check your device's operating system version

The following devices, along with how-to procedures to check your device's operating system versions, are included in this article. 

• Apple iOS devices
• Android OS devices 

For Apple iOS devices : 

Verify your iOS version:

Note: Here, you will see the version number of iOS installed on your device. 

Update your iOS version: 

Note: If an update is available, you will see an option to download and install it. Ensure your device is connected to Wi-Fi and plugged into power. 

For Android OS devices : 

Verify your Android version: 

1. Open the Settings app

2. Scroll down and tap on About Phone or About Device

3. Look for Android version to see the software version your device is running. 

Update your Android device: 

1. Go back to Settings. 

2. Tap on System > System Update or Software Update. 

Note: You will see if there is an update available. Make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi and your device is plugged into power. 

 

What if my phone OS is too old for Mobile Link?

If your phone does not fall within these supported operating system requirements, you can still access Mobile Link on your phone through a web browser at app.mobilelinkgen.com.

 

Trying to connect to your generator without the Mobile Link app, or on an unsupported device?

2. If your device cannot be updated to a minimum required operating system, consider upgrading the device.
