Maintenance timer vs. maintenance reminder

Generac standby generators use both an internal maintenance timer and a maintenance reminder. The timer tracks operating hours to determine when service is required. The reminder is a yellow visual alert indicating that a maintenance interval has been reached and maintenance is due, but it does not stop the generator from running. Maintenance timer

The maintenance timer tracks the unit's operational hours to alert the owner when a predefined minimum maintenance interval has been reached. Intervals may vary depending on the type of unit and are outlined in the maintenance schedule of the owner's manual. 

• Automatic tracking: The timer monitors hours and run time automatically. 
• Interval scheduling: Maintenance intervals vary by unit. Refer to the maintenance schedule in your owner’s manual or see here: Where Can I Find the Maintenance Schedule for My Generac Home Standby Generator?
• Automatic reset: The timer resets automatically when the yellow maintenance reminder light is cleared. No user action is required.

Maintenance reminder

The maintenance reminder serves as a reminder when scheduled maintenance is due, based on the maintenance timer. 

• Visual alert: A yellow LED light indicates that a maintenance interval has been reached.
  
• Reminder schedule: Maintenance intervals are based on the generator’s total run hours and the time elapsed since the last maintenance reminder was cleared, whichever occurs first. 
• Function: The reminder alerts users that maintenance is due and helps ensure the maintenance schedule is followed.
• Impact on operation: The reminder does not stop the generator from running.
