Running a home standby generator after a storm surge

Following inclement weather, such as a hurricane or storm surge, you should always check the generator for signs of water intrusion. Generators are typically installed on a raised slab, but heavy rainfall can erode structures or cause more pooling than expected. It is very important that the unit must not operate in or be subjected to standing water. If the generator failed to start in AUTO mode and you see pooling inside or around the exterior of the generator housing, then you should avoid running the generator and reach out to a local service dealer: How Can I Find a Generac Service Dealer in My Area?
