Can I mount the switch on its side or upside down?

Can I make a knockout on the top of the enclosure?

If the switch is to be mounted indoors, the wiring can enter the switch on any side (top, bottom, sides), national and local codes shall be followed.

For transfer switches installed outdoors, the wiring can enter the switch from the top side but must use fittings listed for use in wet locations as required by Article 312.2 of the National Electric Code.

Can two transfer switches be connected to a single generator?

Where do I check voltage on E1/E2?

When checking voltage on the E1 and E2 lugs, an electrician or trained service dealer should be checking from each lug to the neutral to ensure they are getting 120VAC on each leg. Voltage should then be checked between E1 and E2 to verify 240VAC is present.
 

Where do I connect neutral wires?

Neutrals from both the utility and the generator connect to the neutral bar. The equipment ground from both the service and generator connect to the ground bar inside the transfer switch.
