Adding a fuel monitor to your Mobile Link account

The Generac LTE LP Fuel Level Monitor (also known as Tank Utility) can be connected to Mobile Link to provide easily accessible propane fuel level information. Information about available Mobile Link subscription plans can be found here: What are the available Mobile Link subscription plans?

Adding a fuel monitor to Mobile Link

Before starting the process, verify the Generac/Tank Utility LTE LP Fuel Level Monitor is installed on the propane tank used to supply the generator prior to adding it to your Mobile Link account. See How do I setup my Tank Utility monitor?

Adding a fuel monitor from the Mobile Link website (app.mobilelinkgen.com)

  1. Sign into the Mobile Link site. The Mobile Link Generator Overview screen will appear. Click the "+" icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
  2. Select Add A Tank from the menu that displays.
  3. The Add a Tank wizard will appear. Enter the alphanumeric Tank Device ID for the Generac/Tank Utility LTE LP Fuel Level Monitor, then click NEXT. This ID will be between 8 and 10 characters.
    Note: The Tank Device ID can contain both letters and numbers. It is printed on a small label located on the back of the Generac/Tank Utility LTE LP Fuel Level Monitor, and it is also printed on a small label located on the side of the monitor’s packaging.
  4. Enter a unique name for the tank being added and verify the address information. If needed, click the pencil icon to edit or update the selected address, then click NEXT.
  5. Provide fuel type information and the orientation of the tank being added, then click NEXT.
    Note: Fuel type and tank orientation are used to ensure accurate level information is reported. If this information is not provided accurately, incorrect reading information may be reported.
  6. Expand the list and specify the capacity of the tank being added, then click NEXT.
    Note: Tank capacity information is used to ensure accurate level information is reported. If this information is not provided accurately, incorrect reading information may be reported.
  7. Using the video provided, confirm the successful installation and communication of the Generac/Tank Utility LTE LP Fuel Level Monitor, then click NEXT.
  8. An initial tank level reading should display. Check the fuel level listed on the physical propane tank dial to ensure the reading is displaying accurately. If the information is displaying accurately, click LOOKS GOOD.
    Note: If the tank level is not showing accurately, click Verify Tank Reading to adjust the tank level information so the tank level displays correctly in the app.
  9. Provide information regarding how propane is being consumed from the tank being added. Toggle either yes or no for each option. When finished, click NEXT.
    Note: Tank usage information is used to improve how Mobile Link products are developed and improved.
  10. Optionally, enter the name of the fuel supplier that provides fuel for this tank, then click FINISH SETUP.
  11. Review the subscription details, then click Continue.
  12. Verify or enter billing information for the Generac/Tank Utility LTE LP Fuel Level Monitor (if needed), then click SAVE PAYMENT INFORMATION.
    Note: If you are already enrolled in Premium monitoring through a registered generator, there is no additional cost to add your fuel monitor, and this step does not apply.
  13. The Generac/Tank Utility LTE LP Fuel Level Monitor has now been successfully added using the Mobile Link website.

Adding a fuel monitor from the Mobile Link app (iOS/Android)

Before starting the process, verify the Generac/Tank Utility LTE LP Fuel Level Monitor is installed on the propane tank used to supply the generator before adding it to a Mobile Link account. See How do I setup my Tank Utility monitor?

  1. Launch the Mobile Link mobile app.
  2. Select Dashboard in the lower left corner.
  3. Tap the orange Add icon in the upper right-hand corner.
  4. Select the Fuel Monitor option.
  5. Enter your fuel monitor device ID and enter a name for your fuel tank, then tap Next.
  6. Confirm or add the fuel tank address, then tap Next.
  7. Select the fuel type and tank orientation, then tap Next.
  8. Select a fuel tank capacity, then tap Next.
  9. Referencing the video, confirm the installation steps for the fuel monitor have been performed, then tap Next.
  10. Set the current fuel level by referencing the remote-ready dial on your tank, then tap Next.
  11. Verify the information on the screen, then tap Next.
  12. Use the sliders to indicate which devices consume fuel in your household. This helps the app estimate when a fuel tank refill may be needed. Tap Next when finished.
  13. Search for and add your fuel provider. When the desired option appears, tap Set as fuel provider. Edit the fuel provider’s details if needed, then tap Next.
  14. Review the Premium subscription details, then tap Subscribe to Premium Monitoring.
    Note: If you are already enrolled in Premium monitoring through a registered generator, there is no additional cost to add your fuel monitor, and this step does not apply.
  15. Review the subscription terms. To continue, agree to the terms and tap Continue.
  16. Complete the subscription process using either Google Play or iOS’s payment system, then finish the payment steps.
