Error Codes that Require an Authorized Service Dealer
A majority of the error codes below are outside the scope of DIY troubleshooting and most likely will require the attention of a Generac Authorized Dealer. If you need help finding a dealer, you can use our dealer locator tool.
Note: For a list of error codes that may be addressable by an end user, see: Where can I find a list of error codes for my generator?
Environment
These error codes apply to air and liquid cooled home standby generators. Error codes are displayed on the LCD display of the generator's controller. Note that not all generator controllers have an LCD screen. The generator's LED indicator light will be either yellow or red depending on the error.
Troubleshooting
Follow the below steps to determine if your error code requires service from a dealer:
1. Go to the front of the generator, lift the lid, and locate the Controller on the top right side of the generator.
2. Clear the alarm by pressing the red OFF button, then the ENTER button.
Note: For the 7.5kW PowerPact unit press the OFF button twice to clear an active alarm or maintenance/warning. If an active alarm and maintenance/warning are present at the same time, press the OFF button 3 times to clear.
3. Press the Manual button.
