Hard resetting a Mobile Link device
A hard reset can be performed when a Mobile Link device has continued communication issues or appears to be malfunctioning. This can also be used if the MLG network is not displaying on the phone.
Environment
This article applies to both air and liquid-cooled home standby generators that have a Wi-Fi/Ethernet or 4G LTE Mobile Link device installed.
Air-cooled

Method 1: Disconnect the Mobile Device from the controller
This method involves simply disconnecting the device from the controller. These instructions will work for all Mobile Link devices.
1. Remove the right-side panel for battery access. Detailed instructions can be found in this article: How Do I Remove the Generator Side Panel?
- Use a 5/32 Allen wrench for the 3 bolts, one at the bottom and 2 at the top by controller.
- Remove the front panel first, then remove the side panel.
2. Locate Port 1, directly under the controller and unplug the device (typically there will be an orange or green sticker in the same vicinity this is notated at port 2, port 1 will be right next to it.
- Wait at least 1 to 2 minutes at the minimum and then re-plug device back into port 1.
Method 2: Reset the entire generator
This method involves removing power from the entire generator. This will reset both the Mobile Link device and the generator controller.
1. Turn the generator control panel to the OFF position.
2. Turn the main circuit breaker off on the generator.
3. Lift the rubber flap and remove the 7.5 amp fuse from the controller.
4. Disconnect the battery: Negative cable first, then positive cable second.
5. Unplug the Mobile Link Device from the controller and leave the device disconnected for 1-2 minutes.
6. Plug the Mobile Link device back in.
7. Reconnect the battery: Positive cable first, then negative cable second.
8. Lift the rubber flap and re-insert the 7.5-amp fuse.
9. Turn the generator control panel to the AUTO position (this may require resetting the current date and time).
10. Turn on the main circuit breaker on the generator.

Liquid-cooled generators
Note: It is strongly encouraged to have your dealer onsite to power cycle the device and prompt the countdown timer, when you are attempting to complete the connection. The "timer" will only go for 30 minutes.
The accessory port on the controller is not as easily accessible for these generators due to their size. Only potential way to complete a hard reset is by disconnecting the battery which may not be safe for end users to complete themselves.
