Mobile Link account setup & device enrollment

Home Standby generator owners can monitor their generators using the Mobile Link browser or Mobile App. This article combines knowledge content from across our Help Center to provide end users with a full start to finish process for setting up their Mobile Link account and enrolling fuel monitoring and home standby devices.

Mobile Link details

  • A Mobile Link account is not required for the generator to operate.
  • Homeowners should always verify they have a reliable Wi-Fi or 4G/LTE connection at the generator before subscribing to a Mobile Link plan.
    • For Wi-Fi please ensure you have a dedicated 2.4 Ghz network and the router meets wireless protocol specifications 802.11 b, g, n.

  • Subscription and payment management can be through the Mobile Link website or the Mobile Link Application. 

Note: If working with a Generac service dealer, there is potential to enroll in a dealer-managed plan. Contact your desired service dealer with subscription questions (please do so before signing up for paid services as refunds are not offered). Account sign-up can be done using a web browser or a mobile phone. In most scenarios, account creation occurs when the owner installs the generator. Generators and communication devices can be added to the account during or after the account sign up process.

Select a subscription plan

Selecting a subscription plan on app.mobilelinkgen.com:

Note: Subscription and payment management can be done through the Mobile Link website or application. If working with a dealer, there is potential to be on a dealer-managed plan, contact a desired service dealer with subscription questions (please do so before signing up for paid services, as refunds are not offered). 1. Continuing from the previous step in the enrollment process, click the SUBSCRIBE option.
2. Click the subscription option of your desire, then click CONTINUE.

3. For paid subscription types, Enter the credit card information to be used for the subscription billing. Full payment will be processed on the same day as the subscription is selected. The amount to be billed is listed below the credit card information.

4. Click PAY NOW.

Note: You will be charged for the subscription cost and any applicable taxes. All subscription billing is set to automatic renewal.  To opt out of renewal, choose to cancel the subscription at any time.  Canceled subscription will continue to provide service through the already paid end date.


5. A Congratulations! message will display indicating Your generator is subscribed to remote monitoring. Select the RETURN TO DASHBOARD button to be taken to the Mobile Link Dashboard.

Note: If your generator does run on Propane within the congratulations message you will have the opportunity to add a Generac Fuel Tank Monitor. This can be added at a later date if you choose to purchase a monitor at a different time.

1.Continuing from the previous step in the enrollment process, tap the Subscription option of your choice.

Note: Basic option has no fee. Premium subscriptions do cost more when upgrading through the application. Please do visit our website https://app.mobilelinkgen.com/ for more subscription costs. 

2. Click Subscribe to Premium or Continue with Basic.   

3. Review the subscription terms, please read the whole subscription statement. 

4. To continue, check the I understand box, and click CONTINUE

5. You will be given the payment options offered to you via iOS or Android. Follow the prompts to continue.

6. The ALL SYSTEMS GO! screen will appear, you can click return to dashboard to navigate to the dashboard of your Mobile Link account.
