Before you begin
Verify the correct battery will be installed. See the What Battery Do I Need for My Home Standby Generator? article for information about compatible batteries.
Verify the battery requires replacement. Reference the How Do I Inspect the Battery On My Home Standby Generator? for steps to inspect and service the current battery.
To replace the battery:
1. Press the OFF button to shut down the generator, then remove the front panel. If needed, see the How do I remove the front panel on my home standby generator? article for steps to remove the front panel.
2. Remove the 7.5A fuse from the control panel. This is located underneath the rubber flap (B).

3. Remove the intake side panel. See the How Do I Remove the Generator Side Panel? article for more information.
4. Disconnect the white battery charger cable.

5. Completely disconnect the battery, removing the negative battery cable first.
6. Remove the disconnected battery and insert the new battery.
7. Connect the positive battery cable, then the negative battery cable.
8. Tighten the cable lugs with a wrench. Make sure the wrench never makes contact with the posts at the same time. This will cause a short and can be very dangerous.
9. Connect the battery charger cable.
10. Install the intake side panel.
11. Install the 7.5A fuse.
12. Install the front panel and close the generator lid.
