Connecting your generator to a Wi-Fi network (see: How Do I Connect My Generator to a WI-FI Network?) requires entering the Wi-Fi password for the end user's Wi-Fi network. In some scenarios, the generator may display a message indicating WRONG PASSCODE

There are two common reasons why this error message may display.

Make sure the correct password is being entered

To solve this, please verify the password and reattempt the connection process.  Some Internet Service Providers will place a sticker on the side of the router with the password. If the password was changed outside of the provider password that was set up, it may be necessary to need to log into the wireless router to determine the password.

Note: To confirm the password being used is correct, disconnect a currently-connected wireless device (such as a phone or tablet), choose to "FORGET"  the Wi-Fi network, then try to reconnect to the same Wi-Fi network with the same password. If the password is correct, continue to the below step. If it does not reconnect on to the device, review the router settings or contact the ISP to determine the correct network password.

Ensure the Wi-Fi router has sufficient signal strength at the generator

Verify the signal strength is sufficient: How Do I Check the Signal My Mobile Link Device Is Seeing?

The wireless router may have to be relocated closer to the generator. Alternatively, a Wi-Fi Signal Booster can be purchased and installed within range of the generator and router.

Additional troubleshooting

1. Set up a Network Hotspot using a Mobile device and try to connect the generator to that versus the home network (using the phone as a router to test the connection).
2. Once the Hotspot has been verified as working, try to send a PING Communication to our server to verify the systems are linked: How to Send a Ping Communication From Your Generator Through Mobile Link Device?
3. If the PING was successful, then it may be necessary to purchase an extender or review the router settings.
4 If the PING is not successful, then there may be an issue with the generator, and a service provider or Generac Support should be contacted.
